DECC joins UFI officially

We are very pleased to announce that the UFI Executive Committee approved the admission of Doha Exhibition and Convention Center as a full member of UFI in the category of “Exhibition venue”.

UFI is the leading global association of the world’s trade-show organisers and exhibition centre operators, as well as the major national and international exhibition associations, and selected partners of the exhibition industry.

DECC participates in 83rd UFI Global Congress

DECC’s Management Team participates in the 83rd UFI Global Congress: The Exhibition Industry in Transformation, which took place in Shanghai, China from 9th to 12th November 2016.

Over 600 event professionals from more than 50 countries gathered in Shanghai for this event. CEOs, young leaders, and international experts showed how businesses can thrive in today’s fast-changing exhibition industry environment.

 

DECC CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY

Doha Exhibition and Convention Center today is (October 18th) celebrating one year since it opened its doors.

Hundreds of thousands visitors have attended over 24 public, trade exhibitions and special events since the venue has opened.  These include: Doha Jewelry & Watches Exhibition, Project Qatar, Qatar Motor Show, CityScape, Qatar Energy World, Heya Arabian Fashion, Made in China, Qatar International Medical Congress, Ramadan Souq and Qatar Summer Festival, in addition to more than 20 corporate meetings.

Doha Exhibition and Convention Center has achieved many goals of the country’s National Vision 2030 by promoting Qatar’s tourism and economy on local, regional and international level. DECC is expecting to host more international and high profile events in the next year and will keep its presence in international trade shows such as IBTM and IMEX events!

DECC participates in ‪‎ICCA‬ Middle East Forum

The Sales & Marketing Team of Doha Exhibition and Convention Center participates in the ‪ICCA‬ Middle East International Meetings Forum which is the first edition of an annual forum for ICCA members and meetings industry friends in the Middle East, designed to raise awareness about the value of international meetings for destinations, venues, PCO/DMCs and other suppliers across the region, and to explore how to increase competitiveness and win more meetings business.

The 2016 Forum marks the first steps on the journey towards the 2018 ICCA Congress, preparing the region to take full advantage when 1,000 of the world’s top meetings experts will converge on Dubai.

 

 

Meet the team of DECC at IMEX Frankfurt 2016

Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, the latest venue in Doha, the Capital of Qatar has confirmed the presence of their team at IMEX Frankfurt 2016,  the event for business, education and networking & where the world of meetings and events draws its energy. The event will be held at Messe Frankfurt from the 19th to 21st of April.

This step comes as an official announcement to the region’s top event organizers on DECC’s readiness for receiving any inquiries from the region which comes after a huge success in hosting more than 10 successful major events in less than 5 months (including events like: Qatar Motor Show, Energy World Qatar and Civil Defense Conference and Exhibition, and more), with very positive reviews of both the venue and its international management team from both event organizers and visitors alike.

DECC signs up for IBTM Arabia 2016

Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, the latest venue in Doha, the Capital of Qatar has confirmed the presence of their team at IBTM Arabia, the region’s leading one-to-one business event for the MICE industry, taking place at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, from February 9 to 11.

This step comes as an official announcement to the region’s top event organizers on DECC’s readiness for receiving any inquiries from the region which comes after a previous participation at IBTM world 2015 in Barcelona.

DECC is expected to host more than 36 events in 2016 and has already started receiving inquiries for 2017/18 for events that aims to use the strategically centrally located venue.

The GCC hospitality industry is expected to grow at an annual rate of 9.5% to US$ 35.9 billion by 2018 compared to the US$ 22.8 billion in 2013. Average occupancy rates are likely to be in the range of 68% and 74% between 2013 and 2018 while ADR is likely to average between US$ 225 and US$ 263 during the same period. Saudi Arabia is expected to continue its dominance as the largest market in terms of revenues, followed by the UAE. Upcoming mega events in Qatar and UAE are expected to be the key growth drivers for the hospitality industry in these countries.

With the recent wins in mega events like the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 and the Dubai World Expo 2020, the region is gearing up for an increase in tourist arrivals. Due to the forecasted increase in demand, the sector is going through capacity expansion as well as increasing investment into infrastructure. The industry is expected to sustain this growth momentum supported by the regional governments’ initiatives to grow the sector, international tourist arrivals, especially those from the Asian region, and growth in the MICE segment among other factors.

DECC Celebrates Qatar National Day

In Celebration of Qatar National Day, Doha Exhibition & Convention Center announced that the parking of the building will be open for public free of charge on Friday, the 18th of December 14, 2015.

DECC management commented: “We are happy to announce that our temperature-controlled secured parking facility, which offers spaces for 2800 cars will be accessible for all people for free, which will help a bigger number of audience to enjoy the National Day activities in Corniche area without having to worry about their cars”

Doha Exhibition and Convention has opened for business recently and has now already hosted 5 major exhibitions in the past 8 weeks, which impressed so far all of its visitors with its great features from the 29,000sqm highest pillar free exhibition space to the 18 state of the technology equipped meeting rooms & the amazing 330 sun-wells with its natural day light effect in the space.

 

DECC launch the secured paid parking

Press Release – 1st Dec. 2015 – DECC, DOHA

Following last month’s announcement that Doha Exhibition and Convention has opened for business and has now already hosted 4 major exhibitions in the past 6 weeks, the DECC Management has announcement that it’s paid-for parking services will commence from Monday December 7th.

Regular parkers have enjoyed the benefit of free parking for some time during DECC’s development phase leading up to its opening. However, parking will now be charged at a nominal fee of QAR 5 for the first 2 hours to accommodate quick visits, followed by QAR 5 per hour for the next 3 hours and QAR 10 per hour thereafter to a maximum of QAR 150 for short terms parking. Lost tickets will be charged at QAR 150.

In addition DECC  are offering  a number of parking spaces that can be rented by individuals, corporates and local government departments on a monthly or long term basis at very competitive rates.  However the availability of these types of parking spaces is very limited and will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.

DECC management commented, “Our various service offerings are now open to both, event organizers, their visitors and the general public and as such we needed to provide a secure , controlled and convenient parking solution to everyone who wants to use the facilities that DECC now offers, including the 2800 parking spaces. As a paid-for service we are now able to provide a far more enhanced and consistent service with round the clock security, a climate controlled environment, as well as a convenient and cost effective parking solution for everyone”

Decc Opens Its Doors To Global Business

Press Release – Sunday 18th October 2015 – Qatar 

As the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) nears its much-awaited opening date, media were treated to an exclusive press preview of the world-class exhibition and conference facility.

Catching the first glimpse into the future of Qatar’s event and venue landscape, local and international media representatives attended a tour of the 47,700m² site including the state-of-the-art exhibition hall, modular wall system, high-tech meeting and conference rooms, an exquisite VIP hosting suite and a vast underground parking system. With the ongoing growth of the events industry in the region, DECC is the first purpose-built city-center venue of its kind in Qatar and is set to welcome new global events to the region.

Located in West Bay, the epicenter of Qatar’s commercial district, the venue boasts five exhibition halls ranging between 5368m² to 7160m² with the capability to use the space in its entirety as one exhibition hall totaling 29,000m², thanks to a unique wall partition system. The impressive 18-meter high ceiling is the highest in the Middle East and is supported by a revolutionary cantilever roof meaning the whole space is pillar-free making it more versatile than many other standard exhibition halls.

The venue is overseen by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and managed by a joint venture between Fira Barcelona International and ELAN Group – and is set to host a number of hugely popular events including the Qatar Motor Show and Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition.

According to Hamad Al Abdan, Director of Exhibitions at QTA, Qatar has witnessed a substantial increase in activity in the business meeting and exhibition sector, averaging 150 events a year, with exhibitions experiencing an average of 35 percent growth each year for the past three years. “The opening of DECC is sure to act as a catalyst to the development of the business events sector, which we estimate attracts 70% of Qatar’s visitors.

“Our strategy to increase visitors to Qatar by 20% in the next five years places a strong emphasis on business events as a key driver towards achieving this goal. The welcome addition of DECC to Qatar’s venue portfolio will significantly contribute to Qatar’s status as a globally competitive destination for business events.” Mr. Al Abdan Said.

The venue is now complete and will host its first event on 2nd November  this year. As the region’s business tourism continues to grow significantly year-on-year, the addition of this valuable and unique venue is expected to solidify Qatar’s position in the GCC events market – estimated to be worth $1.3billion¹.

The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center has a unique natural lighting system with over 330 ‘sun wells’ flooding the exhibition hall during the day. By night, the wells are up-lit with environmentally friendly LED lighting available in a variety of colors. Interior walls are given interest and texture with a mix of stunning oak-paneling, ornamental steel gauze and polished natural stone.

Commenting on the unique features of the venue, Mr. Hamad Ali Abdulmalik, Executive Director – Building Projects in Lusail said; “DECC is a valuable addition to the urban landscape in Doha. Through its state of the art facilities, the venue will host international events, contributing to the growing status of Qatar as a destination”

DECC is situated just a few minutes away from the popular Corniche waterfront and many of Qatar’s finest hotels and tourist attractions. It contains a spacious glass-sided concourse, cafes, prayer rooms, a loading zone, storage, and a climate controlled car park in the basement able to accommodate up to 2815 cars and 200 spaces for taxis to collect visitors from inside the venue itself.
