DECC turns green joining other institutions in Qatar celebrating Qatar Family Day and creating awareness about the importance of the family, being the base of any strong society!
Green is the official colour of the occasion that occurs on April 15 every year and was launched by the “Wifaq”, Qatar Family Consulting Center.
The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), has officially become a member of ICCA, the well-recognized International Congress and Convention Association.
ICCA represents the world’s leading suppliers in handling, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events, and comprises over 1,000 member companies and organisations in almost 100 countries worldwide. Since its establishment over 50 years ago, ICCA specialises in the international association meetings sector, offering unrivalled data, communication channels, and business development opportunities.

Official World Tourism Day (WTD) celebrations got underway in Qatar today for the very first time, held under the patronage of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Hundreds of tourism industry stakeholders from around the world flew to Doha to explore the significant role sustainable tourism plays in Qatar and worldwide.
This year’s celebrations fall under the theme set by the The United Nations 70th General Assembly titled ‘’Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development,” and have been organised by Qatar Tourism Authority, with Katara Hospitality as Hospitality Partner, to increase awareness of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value, and make tourism a positive change for good.
World Tourism Day comes at a time when Qatar’s tourism sector is experiencing exciting and monumental change. Last month, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, Qatar Tourism Authority, and Qatar Airways launched visa-free entry to Qatar for citizens of more than 80 countries.
Last year it also introduced a 96-hour transit visa, which allowed passengers transiting at Hamad International Airport the option of leaving the airport and exploring the city for up to of 96 hours, as long as they had a return ticket. The growing demand for this will place Qatar amongst the world’s most popular destinations for long-haul transit visits.

DECC has confirmed participation in IMEX Frankfurt 2017, where the world of meetings and events draws its energy. The event will be held at Messe Frankfurt from the 16th to 28th of May.
DECC has hosted more than 30 exhibitions and special events is in less than 18 months of operations & has a lot of events on the plan for 2017/18 which aims to use the strategically centrally located venue.

H.H. Sheikha Moza bint Nasser proposed the need for a global initiative to promote Autism Awareness, during a UN General Assembly in 2007.
DECC supported the Global (Earth Hour) initiative last night by switching-off the main lights of the venue from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. towards the end of March, as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
It was started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. Since then, it has grown to engage more than 7,000 cities and towns across 172 countries worldwide.
